Credo’s Twelve Truths of Adult & Graduate Studies

Presented by Allan Mitchler, Vice President/Owner Adult students are the fastest growing population in higher education. They work hard, are determined, and have high expectations. Recruiting and retaining adult students can be a challenge in today’s highly competitive environment. Merely “understanding” their unique needs is no longer enough - it’s imperative for institutions to embrace  them. This session will introduce and explore Credo’s Twelve Truths of Adult and Graduate Studies (AGS). Colleges and Universities that critically examine these truths take an important first step toward authentically engaging AGS students. Join us and learn more about how your institution can bring a holistic focus to helping your AGS area thrive!

Filling a Position/Finding a Job

Presented by Timothy Fuller, Vice President/Owner Offering insights for those search for candidates as well as searching for positions from our perspective developed through our search assistance work with campuses.  What to look for, how to filter through the candidate pool, where to look, where to post, how to work with references . . . and then how to prepare your own resume, cover letter, how to describe your experience, how to broaden your experience to prepare you for other positions, etc.

Data, Numbers, So What?

Presented by Timothy Fuller, Vice President/Owner In this session we will look at a top 10 list of numbers/data points an enrollment manager should watch and what they should do about them.  Included with this presentation will be several case studies gleaned from our admitted student research and the NACCAP Enrollment Research Project.

Mobilizing the Campus

Presented by Timothy Fuller, Vice President/Owner If it is true that it takes a campus to recruit a student, how does an enrollment leader mobilize the rest of the campus in efficient, appropriate and timely ways?  The session will offer practical suggestions and include ideas from the participants. --- Sessions for Senior Enrollment Leaders

Student Success: It takes a focused village

Presented by Joretta Nelson, Ph.D., Vice President/Owner We have learned from both research and practice that the entire campus has to be involved in order to improve conditions for student success.  However, telling everyone that retention is their job does not necessarily result in improved student experiences.  Most campuses are challenged particularly by engaging faculty at and in appropriate levels of these endeavors.  This workshop will focus on the most critical components of a comprehensive approach; provide models for how successful institutions have organized their people (including faculty) and processes and will conclude with a review of the top five effective strategies for each area on campus to consider.

Do you know why your students stay?  Using the right information to make a difference.

Presented by Joretta Nelson, Ph.D., Vice President/Owner Most campuses spend their scare resources studying the characteristics and experiences of students who have chosen to leave.  These data provide important information about student experiences on your campus but often are incomplete or present a skewed picture of the complex issues students face.  (It isn’t always about money.)  In this workshop, we will look at student data through the paradigm of student success:  studying why your students stay.  You will walk away with a clear understanding of the metrics you should be collecting and analyzing and at least five strategies of how those findings might be applied to improve student success on your campus.

Choosing and staying: It’s about a clear pathway to vocation (and calling)

Presented by Joretta Nelson, Ph.D., Vice President/Owner Those of us who eat and sleep higher education understand the value of the liberal arts environment but today’s college students (and their families) see through a different lens.  In this workshop, we will learn about what research and practice are saying about the role future employment plays in choice, retention, satisfaction, and institutional commitment.  We will review three “game-changer” examples of the integration of vocation and calling into the curricular and co-curricular experiences of students.  You will leave this workshop equipped with the latest research related to how students are initially and longitudinally motivated and ways in which your campus can begin or improve that process.
