Planning Culture

Many strategic plans are top-down; Credo is the opposite, ensuring your organization's stakeholders are involved at all levels, building community into the process as an ongoing outcome of your strategic plan.

Strengths-Based Strategic Planning

We co-create strategic plans with colleges & universities; inclusive, actionable strategies that wholly belong to your campus community. We believe community engagement and focusing on strengths, mission, and vision make the difference in your strategic plan.

STRATEGIC PLANNING with Credo is an adaptive, community-engaged experience that leverages institutional strengths for growth and change.

Outcomes from a Credo strategic plan include:

  • a campus-owned, Credo-supported, action-oriented plan

  • an ongoing culture of planning

  • KPI-aligned and measurable objectives

  • capacity for strategic action

How We Engage Key Strategic Planning Stakeholders

Leadership Engagement & Retreat

Following a leadership survey, Credo consultants facilitate a leadership retreat based on The Thriving Framework. Together we focus on creating consensus around strategic priorities that will have the greatest impact on the entire campus.

Community Engagement

Open to faculty and staff, Credo's team facilitates a half-day with your campus, introduces the Thriving Framework, solicits input, and offers an opportunity for constituents to recommend initiatives.

Board Engagement & Retreat

During this three-hour event, Credo delivers an overview of the nine elements of thriving institutions, talks about the Thriving Scorecard approach to planning, and collects input on the themes developed in the Leadership Retreat.

Theme Teams & Plan Ambassadors

Community ambassadors deepen engagement and buy-in by inviting more voices and viewpoints into the process. Sessions with Credo and these team players catalyze rippling engagement throughout the broader campus community.

"Credo’s Strategic Planning process was engaging and inclusive, resulting in a new strategic plan that represents the priorities of the entire college community. We all can take ownership of the plan because we were all involved in the development of the plan."

Mary E. Harris, Ph.D. Vice Chancellor, Institutional Effectiveness & Grant Development at Austin Community College

The Board of Trustees was involved, we had faculty and staff extensively involved, we had students involved, and while the outcomes were critical, the process was just as important.

As a trusted partner across our sector, Credo has made its mark among Tennessee independent higher education. Several years ago, when the College needed to assess our services in financial aid and student accounts, Credo assembled a team of experts who provided excellent direction. So, Credo was top of mind when we began our search for a team to lead us through the strategic planning process.
