Credo hosts the "Credo Advising Institute" at North Carolina Campus

Nov 19, 2013 |

On November 19th, we kicked off the first Credo Advising Institute (CAI) at our North Carolina Campus! This exclusive, two-day conference for our Moving the Needle clients focused on Appreciative Advising with featured speaker Dr. Jenny Bloom. CAI was designed to bring together selected client-partners to collectively share in professional development related to academic advising.

Dr. Bloom's two-part presentation at CAI on Appreciative Advising provided an overview of Appreciative Advising with extensive knowledge and research gleaned from her book, co-authored with Dr. Bryant L. Hutson and Dr. Ye He of UNC-Greensboro, The Appreciative Advising Revolution. The philosophy behind Appreciative Advising includes six phases: Disarm, Discover, Dream, Design, Deliver and Don't Settle. At CAI, Dr. Bloom joins Dr. Hutson, Dr. Ye He, Dr. Nancy Midgette and Tammy Alt to teach participants from our eight visiting institutions about Appreciative Advising as well as specific techniques for implementing each phase. Dr. Bloom currently serves as Clinical Professor and Director of the master's degree program in Higher Education and Student Affairs housed in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policies at the University of South Carolina. She has co-authored four books, four book chapters and 16 articles in addition to delivering more than 160 presentations and 15 national webinars nationwide.
