Credo’s Director of Research, Bryant L. Hutson, Ph.D., and several of his colleagues in higher education advising have published a new resource in international academic advising. This interactive book entitled, “From Departing to Achieving: Keys to Success for International Students in US Colleges and Universities,” seeks to positively position international students as they transition academically and socially to the United States. Find out how to get your copy here.

“I believe that this book is vital for incoming international students and scholars to read as it addresses many potential obstacles they may encounter in a US academic context. It is a great resource for new international students and scholars, which can be used during the course of their studies; in particular, during their first 1-2 semesters.”

-Michele Petrucci, Assistant Vice President, International Education and Global Engagement, Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Through the lens of Appreciative Education, this book aims at empowering international students to:

  • develop sufficient knowledge of higher education systems in the US;
  • enhance their self-knowledge of their strengths and assets as international students;
  • acquire learning skills and strategies to become successful academically in US colleges;
  • advance skills in cross-cultural communication and self-advocacy;
  • reflect on their intercultural competence and global awareness disposition development; and
  • become aware of their own bicultural identity formation.

Authors Bryant Hutson, Ye He, Michael J. Elliot, and Jennifer L. Bloom recommend this book for students who are coming to study in the United States, as well as to International Academic Advisors to use in their toolkit of advising resources.

This book will be released on Amazon soon. For updated information on publication,please visit publisher site here.
