Jerry Seaman, Ph.D.

Gerald (Jerry) Seaman has served as CEO, CAO, and interim President on senior leadership teams at residential liberal arts colleges for a total of twenty years. Most recently before coming to Credo, Jerry was Principal, Chief Executive Officer, and Scholar in Residence at Harlaxton College, U.K. (2014-2020) where he is now Principal Emeritus. Prior to that he served as Vice President and Dean of Faculty at Ripon College (2006-2014), with a term as Interim President in 2011-12. Before Ripon, Jerry was Associate Dean of Faculty at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI from 2000-2006. A native of Madison, Wisconsin, he earned his B.A. at the University of Wisconsin – Madison with majors in French, International Relations, and Political Science. During his junior year, Jerry studied at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Aix-en-Provence and, in his senior year, was one of a small number of students selected to participate in the University of Wisconsin United Nations Summer Seminar in New York. He later entered Stanford University’s program in Interdisciplinary Research, spent a year in Paris at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in French, specializing in twelfth-century Arthurian legend. Jerry began his academic career at the University of Evansville where he was Mortar Board Professor of the Year, published widely, taught three times at Harlaxton College, earned tenure and served as Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages (1997-2000). He is an erstwhile runner and ice hockey player who walks regularly, does yoga occasionally, and enjoys music.
