In her three-decade architectural career, Amy Schwalbach has focused on campus architecture and experience planning. Her expertise in the design and construction documentation of site and facility projects in the educational, residential, municipal, and industrial sectors has informed her approach to planning. She is a self-motivated learner and a creative, research-based design and planning professional with experience in collaborating and strategizing with institutional partners on facility and campus master plan solutions that focus on transformative experiences for campus communities.
Listening to clients describe their ideal student experiences and strategic initiatives are the key components to aligning campus spaces and places to an institution's mission, goals, and financial realities. Amy strives to provide the data and best-practice campus design context that will allow clients to make informed decisions concerning the capital investments that will best serve engaged learning, student involvement, and campus culture while keeping spaces adaptable to changing pedagogies, programs, services, and institutional growth.
A Culture-Focused Approach to Campus Planning
Amy believes that the site and facilities are the physical assets of a campus, but the spaces and places are where the campus community lives, learns, creates, collaborates, socializes, reflects, and—most importantly—belongs. She keeps that belief at the forefront as she collaborates on site and facility assessments, client workshops, and facility and campus master plans. She has also developed tools that clients use for space inventories, utilization analysis, and campus programming.
I love the moment when we are working with a client, and you can see them envision their future campus and the possibilities it will bring for their institution and their students.
An Avid Crafter & A Fierce Football Fan
In her spare time, Amy loves crafting, especially making jewelry. When she's not designing or creating with her hands, you can probably find her cheering on her favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers. Go, Pack, go!
