Carrie Stockton, Ph.D.

Senior Consultant for Student Success

Dr. Carrie Stockton (she/her/hers) loves jumping into the challenge of changing institutional systems to better serve students. Her 20+ year career in university leadership—from enrollment management and academic affairs—allows her to understand and respond to the variety of perspectives an institution can have regarding student outcomes. And her extensive qualitative research expertise helps clients diagnose institutional health by listening to the voices of key campus constituents.

Moving the Needle on Student Success

As a senior consultant for student success, Carrie works with colleges and universities in Credo’s Moving the Needle project, serving as a facilitator, assessor, capacity-builder, and coach. In the process, she shares the lessons and insights she’s gleaned from her own on-campus experiences, including implementing an institutional plan for student success, coordinating research about student success, and improving retention and graduation rates. Clients say Carrie is an inspiring and stabilizing force that can bring clarity and collaboration in stressful circumstances. In return, she feels energized when she watches partners become excited and hopeful about the possibility of transformative change in their students’ success.

"It is a joy to see clients collaborate and align toward a shared vision that places students at the center of their work. The energy they gain from feeling heard and believing that this work will benefit all members of their community is inspiring.

From Scholarly Pursuits to Serene Sunsets

As both a higher education practitioner and a scholar, Carrie has presented and published on topics including women in leadership, qualitative research methods, and student outcomes. To relax, she likes to arrange flowers, sing and listen to music, visit art galleries, and hike by the water at sunset.
