As someone who works for a company serving private colleges and universities in a volatile time, I’ve grown a bit weary and wary of all of the “higher education in trouble” news stories. Are there real challenges facing private education? Of course! But real challenges doesn’t mean the picture is always as gloomy as it might appear...which is why this recent article reflecting on the real story behind another gloom and doom headline was so refreshing, enough so that we’re posting it here on our blog.
The author, discouraged by the headline stating that 1/3 of recent college graduates regret going to college, took the time to secure a copy of the survey which gathered the data which put generated this headline. In looking at the actual data he discovered the data actually supported the opposite conclusion.
We commend his article for your reading pleasure and a balanced perspective on the value of the college experience. Read the article here: http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2013/05/29/dont-believe-everything-you-read-about-higher-education/
